I'm starting to work with the Bergger VCCB paper and a non-photographic question has occurred to me:

How do you pronounce "Bergger"?

Is it pronounced the same as the ubiquitous fast food product, or is it something more exotic?

Nope. You have to pronounce it Bergger, as if it was german. And I am french

Thanks to Aurelien for the interesting story behind the Bergger name - give my best to Bernadette and Guy!

In regards to the Bergger paper, it's most similar to the Ilford MGWT of any of the papers I've been using, though initially a little less warm than the Ilford. I like the color of the Bergger paper after five minutes of 1:10 selenium.

I only made small test prints today; I'll have some stronger opinions after making some real enlargements, of course.

Variable NB is the most beautiful paper I have ever tested. Dark blacks, the whitest base, flat after drying... My favorite.

I prefer fixed-grade papers - and Bergger's papers are among the very best. For those rare scenes which really need it, there's nothing better than "Silver Supreme".

New Bergger VCB looks like Ilford Warmtone (certainly same paper) & is very different from Forte PW

This was my first thought when I saw that Fotoimpex stores the two new Bergger papers... both VC, one neutral toned (like Ilford MG IV) and one warm toned (like Ilford MG Warmtone)... too much a coincidence, although we'll have to test them first before jumping to conclusions...
