Hello,

Anyone have an approximate ASA for BPFB-18 for in camera shooting ?

I have some here to make contact positives for photopolymer gravure but thought I might give it a crack in-camera.

the info provided is a bit misleading - its a 'panchromatic' film (says so on the box) with "blue-sensitive film... with a maximum sensitivity of about 450 nm" on the website  ....

So anyway, I'm aware it has a funny color response - so perhaps one approx ASA for skin tones/tungsten-studio set ups (slow?) and one for outdoors (much faster ?)

I'm after something to start with so I might only waste one sheet instead of two or three testing ...

I have D76, D19 and POTA developer here

Is the number '18' a hint ?

any help appreciated,
nick

BPFB18 is a laboratory film. It's made to print slide on it, and obtain negatives from them, in order to contact print the slides. It behaves like paper , and you have to develop it in paper developer.

I am aware of this - paper developer isn't necessary according to the literature, however I will use the higher-con D19 (I suppose I could try some dektol too) as its for Palladium printing...

Still though - film is film, I will obtain something from using it in-camera - this 'something' is what I am interested in

I emailed Bergger about two years ago on this and if I remember right I believe the ISO reported was 16-18. I've used, and will be using my remaining stock for enlarged negs. Call Bostick and Sullivan as they carry it and should be able to either concur with me or get the info needed.
