Can anyone point on the reason(s) why Berger B&W films are around 50% more expensive than say ilford Delta films.
I never used that films and just wonder are they so good at shades and highlight details that can outperform the best from ilford?
Thanks

'Cause they're worth it. Ha ha ha.

Perhaps it's all about price-point marketing? Just like why some people need to buy expensive cars. I don't know.

Or it could be why Berger hasn't gone bankrupt?

Or economy of scale? Is Berger as big of a player as Ilford?

Vote with your wallet.

I just flipped through the Freestyle catalog and don't see that Bergger is 50% higher than Delta films.

While many, if not most of the products Bergger sells are actually the same as less expensive versions sold by others, Bergger is set up to offer top-notch service to its dealers, and fresh stock, and probably better guarantees of quality. It is all about positioning yourself in the market. All of Berggers products are good, because they choose good products as the raw materials to package under the Bergger label. Whether the premium Bergger charges is worth it to you, is for you to judge. You can, by careful shopping, get almost all the products sold under the Bergger name, from other vendors at less cost.
