In an attempt to try products other than Kodak - I have a new bottle of Berg Selenium toner that has a considerable amount of dark particles on the bottom - they look like metal flakes - selenium?? The Kodak Rapid Selenium toner I am used to using did not have anywhere this type of appearance. Is this normal?

Hm, in my own-made T-55 Selenium toner (selenium dissolved in strong sodium sulfite solution, plus ammonium chloride) these particles form spontaneously, especially in working solutions kept for awhile. These are indeed selenium, and they do no harm to prints or films - just filter them away with a piece of cottonwool put in funnel, and use the filtrate as usual. That's probably normal for selenium toners to decompose slowly a bit...

Cheers from Moscow, Zhenya
