Benro Tripod

Anyone have any experience with the BENRO iFoto IF28+ tripods or Benro in general? Any comments appreciated. They are rated to take 14 kgs so I'm looking at this for a large format camera setup. Thanks Michael.

I have a light-duty Benro tripod and ball head, which cost me all of 90 EUR new. For this price, it is very good. It has rated load of 4 kg. I've used it with my Peco Junior and it can easily handle that weight.

I have an older Benro made of aluminum. I believe it's the older a258 version. It's a 3 leg section one with a textured gray finish. I cannot remember exactly when I got it or even where (Nikonians purchase maybe in 2005). I initially got it though to hold my heavier telephoto lenses. After getting a LF camera in 2008, I have used exclusively to hold that camera. Mine is very solid and does quite well in the field and at any angle I put it at. The main drawback though is weight. I think the tripod legs come in at around 5 lbs. I use a Manfrotto 3039 head on it and the total weight comes in about 8 lbs. I hope this helps some.

I've had a Benro C2692T and the V2 ballhead for a few years. I bought it because I wanted something that would fit in my suitcase and be easier to maneuver through barely there trails on Vancouver Island. I used it with a D800 with a 70-200 f/2.8, as well as a 300 f/4 + 1.4x TC, and long exposures with shorter lenses and never had any stability issues. Around town I mainly use it with my Hasselblad stuff. It would probably be OK with my Chamonix 045F1 and a light lens, but I don't think I'd trust it if there was much wind.

Overall I think the Benro stuff is good value for the money.

I have an older Benro aluminum that I put a 410 geared head on. All sorts of adjustable, flip the post around, legs spread any which way, easily supports an old woody 5x7 if I'm careful with the head.
I do not put heavy use on it, but have had it for years with no issues.
I agree that they're good value for the money.
