I sometimes think coincidences are just alignments in one's perceptions, you see the connections when you are ready and open to them.

A friend of mine recently visited Ladakh, which I had never heard of. And, in the course of researching Ladakh, I came across the work of Linda Connor whom I'd heard of but seriously looked at for some reason. That has changed. She also travels there, and indeed sacred locations throughout the world [alas, I am feeling very provincial these days]. Her work resonates with me in a way that is non-technical, inducing a desire to travel, to appreciate and connect with other cultures, to feel more a part of the world than I've previously allowed myself to. I have not seen her prints yet, but have her book, "Odyssey" which I would unreservedly recommend. Some google work will turn up many of her images, well worth the search.

Thanks for the recommendation Tim. I had never heard of Linda before just now, but have had a quick look at her work and it looks very much like the kind of photography (and travel) that appeals to me.

She's a wonderful person, as well as being a wonderful photographer and teacher. I love her stuff.

She's often confused with Dead Link Removed who also does a sort of global travelogue type work but with banquet cameras and platinum prints. Gorgeous work.

If you are interested in Linda's processes, she uses an 8x10 camera with an old, single element barrel lens and printing out paper. Fully described in the old "Darkroom" book by Lustrum Press which can still be picked up fairly inexpensively.

Thanks for the references to the book and Lois Conner - new to me as well.

In interviews, she referenced printing out paper, but I don't think that any
can be obtained anymore short of making it yourself, which she said
-at least at the time- she wasn't ready to do yet...

She's mostly shooting 4x5 these days and making big pigment (inkjet) prints.
