This Burke and James Commercial View 8X10 camera hails from the 1960's. Other makers had long since abandoned the big cameras, but Burke & James held fast to the end.

The quality on these is exceptional. They are rock solid rock maple wood cameras. This one is 100% complete and shows little actual use. You can be the one to break it in.

Lens boards on these are interchangeable with Eastman 2D. 6X6 inches with plenty of room for huge old barrel lenses. And the front standard is more than stout enough for the heaviest lens you can hang on there.

Entry level doesn't mean you sacrifice anything. This has every possible movement known to Scheimpflug himself. What it means is, when you go to the gathering at Lee Vining creek with all the other view camera snobs, no one's going to pay any attention to this old brute.

Figure on at least $35 - $40 bucks to ship this properly. $565.00 + shipping

Wow, it looks just like my Kodak 2D. Well, missing the fantastic dark stain and 90 years of age... The extra movements would be an improvement over my 2D. It's pretty cool that Burke & James kept the design so close to the 2D for so many years.
For potential buyers, this has the extention rail (good for at least 24" extension if you want to get close to your subject with a 12" lens) and the sliding tripod base, both very useful things, and both missing on some of the 2Ds being sold today. Something to consider if you are comparing this one to a sale from elsewhere. That said, I have no connection to jimgalli, nor have I ever purchased from him.
Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the nice reply. Bed extension on this is right at 30". That means you can do a head and shoulder portrait with a 16" lens.

How much does it weigh?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and 100% recycled electrons - because I care.

I'm at work so can only make an educated guess. A bit more than the Kodak 2D (and a bit more substantial with a lot more movements) I'm going to say 11 pounds, no lens.

This is still available.

Max bellows on this fully extended is 32 1/2" Significantly more than the smaller 2D. The standards lock down very tight in spite of what someone said above. Rock solid.

Weight with both beds is more than my guess though. 16 pounds.

I can supply a functioning 305mm G-Claron in barrel with this camera, mounted and ready to go for $700 total. It has some internal fog but functionality is unimpaired. I'll include a film holder if you buy it with the lens.

Hope the buyer has lots of fun with it.

I'd love an 8x10 some day but even when I had the money to expand my camera stable the difficulty of optically enlarging it always stopped me. And right now is not a good time financially either.

But this one did get my interest.

Who says that you have to enlarge them? An 8x10 contact print is something to behold! (at least that is how i became addicted)
