Aside from the fact that Fox is not a news source but it is a right wing propaganda machine [regardless of whom the interviewed], I could not get either links to play all the way through. As mentioned in a previous post, bring the photographers' bill of rights with you.

I think we all understand the difference between structure and infrastructure but the bigger issue is lost privacy, freedoms, and Big Brother asking us to spy on one another. It's Nazzi Germany all over again... playing on our fears to gain control.

well, I still can't get the damed video to play (even at home) but, from the quote on PDN.....

One of the things that we ask people to do is when they see something unusual, if they see, for example, somebody continually taking photographs of a piece of critical infrastructure that doesn't seem to make any sense, or a package left unattended on a bus platform, to report that to local law enforcement so it can be followed up on.

I guess the joke is...the part in bold....that is,

"critical infrastructure that doesn't make any sense"



my guess is that infrastructure that is critical and at the same time doesn't make sense is...well, absurd...or a Bush-ism at best.

All news sources have bias. They each choose what small portion of the whole to present, and in what light it is presented, with the intent of producing a certain feeling - much like we do when we photograph, interestingly enough. Fox is well known for a strong right leaning bias, so I assume that is why the previous comment was made. I don't personally watch TV anymore, the whole info-tainment thing disgusts me, so I don't know how the other 'news' sources lean, but knowing the bias tendency for any given source helps interpret what they present.

Randy, I see your point but as "responsible/nonbiased" news photographers we would photograph every scene and everything on those scenes trying to avoid personal feelings/opinions... objectively. As visual editorialists wishing to express our feelings/opinions we would photograph selective parts emphasizing what we want and even twisting visual content into what we want others to see... subjectively. There's nothing wrong with us telling biased stories so long as we tell our audiance that we are editorializing.

No, the others are real news sources that are not biased. It is only when one goes off the deep end either left or right that the world appears warped and biased the opposite direction.
