Bay 60 or Bay60 —> 67 adapter?

Hello all.

Getting back into film, added a Hasselblad 903 SWC. I feel compelled to protect that precious Biogon front element. Is there a compelling reason not to use an adapter for day to day use? Does the adapter preclude using the lens hood? My local shops had no B60’s or adapters so I’m going to have to mail order sight unseen.

I only ask because I also have a Lee filter holder which has a 67mm option. I’m thinking I’ll probably just want a protecting filter and probably a yellow and red. It kills me to remember how many B60’s I essentially gave away when selling my 503CW and lenses about 6 years ago...

Honestly... either. But the dedicated mount is a tad easier. I use both and started buying a separate adapter for each 67 filter I’m using. Basically ending up with equivalence.

Filters us inside bayonet. Shades use outside bayonet. Both can be used at same time.

I can’t comment on the Lee adapter, though.

You can get your filters at many stores through internet, even used filters in excellent condition. I use B60 for all the Hasselblad filters unless the filter in not available in that size and then I use the 67mm step up ring for 67mm filters.

I use both Bay 60 plus 67mm, 72mm and 76mm glass filters, as well as 75mm x 75 mm KODAK gels and would use the square polymer Cokin, etc gilters filters, if I find adapters and other filters for them.

I should add, had I the right Series size filters for this larger format, I would us them as well, as needed.

Focus on Bay 60 bay 70 filters and 67, 72 76mm round glass filters, in GOOD brands will get you where you need to go.

Kodak gels would be my next choice and I carry a good set with both the adjustable pro shade and a third maker 75mm gel filter holder, which serves for other camera's/lens sizes.

If you've got it, and know how to use it, then it does no mater which of all the options works, so long as you use them and get the shot.
