I've recently purchased an MR-9 or PX625 adapter (the one from ebay from pratedthai) which takes a battery of type 386 or SR43. However, these coin batteries seem to be getting harder to find - all the pharmacists near where I live (inner city Sydney) have stopped selling them, and they seem to be getting thin on the ground at electronics wholesalers and even ebay.

This is a little problematic, as the adapter is the only way to get my Canon FT QL light meter near to accurate (I mean I can wing it, but it's the principle, you know?).

Anyone know of any silver oxide batteries other than the type 386/SR43 that would work with the adapter? I'm OK with an insulating shim around the outside of the battery - it's the battery thickness that will make or break an alternative solution. For instance, a type 357/SR44 has a suitable circumference, and they're more readily available, but they are too thick to let the battery compartment close.

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can try an SR41/384. A bit thinner but might work.

You can find them, but the stock levels are lower than some other kinds of coin batteries. Which can sometimes suggest their time is limited.

What makes me wonder is that in Australia, as the OP experienced, SR43 is getting scarce even aside of local retailers.
Here it is listed at Varta and at all button-cell internet vendors I checked.

Ben, SR43s are 11.6 x 4.2 mm (outer diameter, height). SR44s are 11.6 x 5.4. I suspect that MR-9 adapters will work with either but could be mistaken.

The OP reported a height issue keeping him from closing the battery compartment.

There are acres of the on Austrailian eBay
Many of those listings have pretty low stock levels of SR43, if they have them at all. I counted 59 individual batteries in the top 10 listings, most of which are in packs of 5 or 10.
