I am currently considering upgrading my old Feisol 3401 to Feisol 3472. I will primarily use it with my Bronica ETRSi setup with lens up to 250mm for landscape photography. My Feisol 3401 has been working fine for the last 6 years with all my travelling but I am thinking about having a more solid tripod set up to give me a more solid base and a more comfortable working height (I am 6 feet tall). Of course, the importance of my deal wife's offer to buy me a nice birthday present can be understated as well.
What I am not sure about if what ballhead to go with Feisol 3472. I am hoping to have a matching caliber ballhead along with 3472 so I am quite interested in Markins Q20, RRS BH-55 or Photoclam PC-48. I am wondering if any of these ballhead will fit Feisol 3472 with the tripod legs reversed. Also, the base plate for Feisol 3472 is pretty big. If I don't use a center column, would there be any clearance problem with any of these ballheads if I flip the camera to the side for a vertical shot?
I know Kerry from Reallybigcamera is an expert on this. Unfortunately I haven't heard back from him after sending him an email with these questions a few days ago.
Thanks everyone!
