Hello, would it be possible to modify a Bag Mag to fit on a 4x5 Speed Graphic with Graflok back?
I have just bought my first speed graphic and I am aware that the bag mag was for the Graflex back but I found this bag mag in a second hand shop for $25.00 and it had all its septums and everything. If I can't mid it then I will just keep it as another piece for my collection.

Dear Tobychrome,

Clean it up nicely and put it on display. Then get the newer Grafmatic (or 6) and enjoy some walk around 4x5 shooting. Quick hint for Grafmatic operation, make sure the camera is level when advancing to the next sheet. I have found that when pointing the camera down, the mechanism can bind up.

Have fun,

hey TC

graphmatic backs are between IDK 50- 100$ depending on the seller, age, condition and site you find them.
like bag mags they run on metal septums to hold the film.
make sure when you buy yours you ask the seller if they are ALL included, ( some get lost ) and make sure to ask
they are straight. over time sometimes they get bent up which has the potential of jamming it up.

No. A film holder that fits a Graflok is 4.75 inch / 120.65 mm wide; a Bag Magazine is 4.998 inch / 126.95 mm wide. The Bag Magazine has a grove that fits on the lip of a Graflex back; a Graflock film holder has two ribs.
Cutting down a bag mag to graflok dimensions will intrude into the film chamber.
