Hi Zhenya !
My Slavish plates are about ISO 160 if my written notes are good enough.
Do you thing they could be available for a foreigner ?
In E.U. nobody seems to sell them anymore. Maybe because they are 9x12 instead of 4x5 ?

With everyone hating these tanks so much, you can pick up them up pretty cheap. And I don't sit in the dark the whole time. Drop the film in the tank in the dark, put the lid on and turn on the lights while developing, turn the lights off to switch tanks and turn the lights back on. Actually works fairly easily.

I'll gladly pay shipping for anyone who would like me to dispose of their tanks since everyone seems to hate them so much.

The main reason Slavich plates are difficult to buy in W. Europe is the high cost of shipping. Remember it's glass plates, and even Slavich must have a minimum order.

I believe the minimum order weighs a ton. Metric. Literally.

Hi Georges,

I will ask my local company selling Slavich film and plates (mostly for scientific and technical purposes like PCB manufacturing) about 9x12 plates - I am quite sure they are available in a number of emulsion kinds of different gradation. I would ask them how much would be their minimal order (my memory says that a square meter of plates costed under 100 Euro), and how it's possible to order the plates.

I would try to understand the shipment price to EU and USA, just in case - but I don't think that it would be too high.

Cheers,
Zhenya

Hey, it would be indeed metric - I am always confused with all these inches and ounces, the remainder of old colonial regime The minimal order was not too high, and the continuous tone plates are made twice a year, as far as I can remember - they're popular abroad, the managers told me.

If I could find black ABS pipe, I would be glad. Apparently Michigan is one of the states that doesn't REQUIRE ABS over PVC per plumbing code, and thus there is little market for it.

I've made a few efforts to locate it & it was a dead end.

I contemplated driving to another state but I don't need it that badly, nor is buying an 8 or 12 foot length practical when driving interstate with the family.

Someone suggested to me gluing something linear inside the development tubes to create a 'bump' that allows chemistry to get behind the film and leave a place to grab the film.. I think the suggestion was plastic tubing with silicone adhesive...if you can get stuff that sticks.

Murray, how come the PVC is not suitable ? ABS is a "nasty stuff" as it is not recyclable (as far as I know).
And PVC is easy to work with, the glue making a solder instead of a glue.

Murray, I get odd artifacts with the black ABS, at least with the supply in Washington state. I've tried 4 different incarnations of tube tanks and keep getting crud on the negatives. I think the main problem is the open cell structure of the pipe- cutting the pipe exposes this and the fittings don't seal it or keep it from getting suspended in the chemistry...The result is pipe debris on the negatives no matter how much I clean it. Can you get the opaque grey electrical grade stuff where you are? This is solid core and I was going to try this next.
