B&W Sheet Film Survey Pt. 1 (ISO 25-50)

You can only pick one of these films for your trip (don't worry, there are two other parts to this story, you will be able to pick some other films as well).

From the results I've gotten from Efke25 so far, I'm seriously considering making it my fulltime film. This film is unbelieveable, and souped in Rodinal, even more so.

None of the above

All of these films are just too slow. It's mostly FP4+ for me (in 4x5 and 5x7). Sometimes Fuji Acros in quickloads when traveling. Where is the 200-400 speed film survey? Many people (including myself in 8x10) find ISO 100-125 too slow. Actually I do very rarely use Polaroid type 55 (exposed for the negative).

P.S. I just saw the survey for 200-400 speed film. Sorry! Just voted for the HP5+ in 8x10. FP4+ however remains my favourite in most formats.

last time I had to fly and took Ilford Pan F and Rollei Pan 25. I shot in 120 and would be hard pressed to change. Now I am going on a driving trip so I will take Efke 25 as I have a lot of it in sheet sizes, 5x7 and 2x3. If I take my 2 1/4 then I will take Rollei Pan 25. I also will take JandC Classic 400 in 5x7.

So if 120 then Rollei and 5x7 it will be Efke 25 and Classic 400.

Sorry I missed the sheet film part, I'm not a user of slower films!
The Pan F is the only I really know and like but its not in sheet sizes!
Gigabit is much to complicated!

Efke 25 in pyrocat or in PMK. Both are nice to use, but depends on use as to developer I would pick. Still have to try some in Rodinal, as it is reputed to be a good choice as well. tim

I've moved Wephota NP-15 into the Efke/Adox PL 25 category.

I selected Type 55, but personally, I don't find that I need a super-slow film in sheet sizes. I use Type 55 occasionally because it's an instant film that produces a negative and happens to have a nice tonality as well. If it were a 100 or 400 speed film, I would use it for the same reasons.

Given the right subject, Efke PL 25 is a wonderful film. I still don't know how to spot "the right subject" in advance though; but sometimes it just sings.

I'd shoot Pan-F+ in sheets if it were available, but Simon Galley has posted that it would need to be reformulated to be coated on the sheet film base that is currently available, and the demand just doesn't justify it, so it's not included in the survey.

My wish would be for Pan F+ to be available in all formats. It could be the last great film and would find widespread use. Oh to find some Panatomic X in sheet film. Rollei Pan 25 in sheet would be great also.

Reportedly (by Steve Simmons and others), the Type 55 neg is the same emulsion as Panatomic-X. It's an expensive way to shoot (well, maybe no worse than Panatomic-X Readyloads would be), but there are people who shoot it in the packet, then pull it without developing it in the Polaroid chemistry, and process it in normal chemistry of their own choosing.

FP4 rules!

I use Ilford FP4. Don't need anything that slow for sheet film. Develop in PyrocatHD or in some cases FA-1027 or Rodinal.
I have tried the Efke 25, and the Gigabit, but I see no real gain.
