Well, there was Agfa Scala, and I believe that Foma markets one of their films as a b/w reversal film. Of course, most black and white film can be processed as either positive or negative.

Kodak has an amazing chemistry kit made to process Tmax 100 as a slide, better made than the foma one because there is no need to re-expose the film between the two developments.

The results are stunning, you shoot at EI 50, and the process is not harder than standard b&w (and much more forgiving about temp, contrary to a color slide)

You should definetly give it a try.

There is also instructions on Ilford website to prepare chemistry from scratch. Many people will probably suggest you to mix your own chemicals, but as a personnal choice, I prefer to use Kodak kit even if its more expensive.

There are two kind of positive films:

-) those who need a reversal development

-) those who form a positive image within one development

Both types are on the market.

Actually there is even a third kind, namely DTR materials, but due to their split structure (negative film plus receptive layer) I guess they do not fall into what the OP had in mind.

You can also process Ilford's XP2 Super C-41 film in E-6 chems.

Don't forget Foma make a specialist reversal film Fomapan R 100 which is on a clear base.

Reversal processing isn't difficult, and don't worry about the need for reversal re-exposure that's easy. Either do them yourself or send to dr5.

There was also Kodak Direct Duplicating film which formed a positive image without a reversal development process.

I've used Fomapan R 100 with very nice results, processed by dr5, a sponsor. Film available at Freestyle, another sponsor. dr5 can process many b&w negative films as positives- see the website for comments on which ones work best and iso to use, if you go this route.

Also see this article by our own (there was a url link here which no longer exists).

I really want to try the T-Max reversal processing kit! The only problem is that it seems like most places will not ship it.
