Robert,
That material is originally designed for aero cameras with suction plates. Have you considerd that flatness issue with our common 35mm cameras?
A product that 82% of people in the Poll have indicated they see no advantage in, is going to be introduced anyway, yet a choice of black & white film in 220 size which judging by posts on this site hundreds are screaming for is still just a dream. It's a strange world.
Wayne,
I read on photo.net that Kodak will make a 20,000 roll run of regular Tri-X (the 400 speed kind) in 220 size later this year. I hope this works out so another run of Plus-X or maybe a run of TMX could be run in 220 size.
I'd love to see some 70mm stuff in b&w. Is there any anywhere?
Brac,
Yes this is strange. Especially as there were several films new released as 60mm type 120 films. I really don't see the difficulties in making a type 220 out of 60mm stock.
(Might it be those machinery has gone to the junk yard?)
It would be interesting if Robert's new film would be newly coated or, as more common these days, cut from stock. Agfa, which is experienced in coating on PET indeed, offers their Aviphot Pan 400 S on 60y base too. Cutting this film to 35mm would mean competing with Maco who sell this emulsion as Rollei Infrared in 35mm too (even as bulk). The difference would only be the base thickness. Or, seen that he has hinted before at visiting Prague, it could come from Foma. A Foma 400 on different base.
Brac, anyway I see any activity in offering new sizes/types as something positive. Even when users are rather calling for something different.
(79 people giving any vote out of over 20.000 members is not great either...)
OK. Everybody thanks for the input.
The decision has been made that this film will be available from Oktober 2007 in bulk 30,5m or maybe 50m only so that for these special users there is maximum flexibility how to use it.
USA dealers who are interested can contact me. I will forward them to the manufacturer.
Best regards,
Robert
