This roll might be good to practice with. Load the reel several times watching how things go, then practice more with your eyes closed.
As mentioned, if the reel has even the slightest bend, it will cause loading problems.
Another trick is to make sure you have the same number of open wires on each side of the film when you get to the end of the roll, (or while you’re loading if you hear some crinkling). If you don’t get the same number, it means one side is doubled up.
