I very seriously doubt they got the solutions mixed up but just to be sure, the platinum solution should be a nice rosy reddish color. Palladium is like black coffee.
What you seem to be saying is that your prints came out warmish color instead of neutral.
I use a mix of platinum and palladium and I process in Potassium Oxalate that I top up and use over a long period of time. However, when I mix a fresh batch of developer and use pure palladium my prints come out warmish and even reddish if I heat the developer. Any little amount of platinum I add to the sensitizer cools the color of the print. A pure platinum print (which I have made only out of curiosity) is much more neutral or even an unpleasant grey concrete sort of color.
As my developer ages and has processed lots of prints, most all a mixture of Platinum and Palladium, it becomes very difficult to get a warm print out of it even when I keep my developer hot. I am under the impression that that is because the residual run off platinum accumulating in the developer affects the color of my prints. I personally would prefer to keep the warmer color but the addition of platinum makes better blacks and snappier contrast.
I think the difference in your experience must be from the developer you are using.
