B&S Ferric Oxalate - 2 types?

One for kallitypes and one for Pt-Pd. What's the difference, apart from concentrations - 20% for the former and 27% for the latter as specified. Could I just buy the Pt-Pd one and dilute if I want to use it for kallitype in the future. Or is there some other difference. The website does not mention any.

Here is my "two cents worth"...

I don't know for sure, but I would be really surprised is there is a difference other than the concentration. I'd ask the folks and B&S to be 100% certain.

Just don't buy the "#2" solution for the Pt/Pd process... that contains potassium chlorate for contrast control.

Thanks Frank. May be it's just a convenience thing. I will call them Monday (they are closed now) before ordering to make sure. Thanks for the heads-up on the #2 solution.

I think that the two different solutions are simply "tradition". I took a quick look in James' book. His recopies for the two processes call for different solutions as sold by B&S..

Yeah, it is tradition indeed...I talked to them - there is no chemical difference between the two, only the concentration. I wanted to make sure thinking may be they add something to one or the other to make them better suited for the process. In any case, now we know for sure.
