Back in the day, B&H sold film out of an entire corner of the store. Really nice space. Well, over the last few years that has gone and your film was ordered by the chemical/paper area by telling the sales rep what you want and he would have it sent up from the downstairs "city".

I was there today. They have built a very nice size film counter again in that area with a wall of all types of film. Displayed also are the big Film Company backlit sighs. They are new. I asked the sales gent if he saw what I've (we've) been seeing, a resurgence in analog. His reaction was wonderful, very wide open eyes and a large up and down gesture of his head while stating "Yes, very certianly"

Made me feel warm and fuzzy. I told my buddy, next we will see the prices for Film gear begin to rise.

Funny, two guys walking around NYC on 5th ave, one with a M6 and one with a Rollei around their necks sure do get a lot of stares and quite a few nods of approval.

B&H is out of stock of Rodinal and I got the last C-41 5 liter kit.

Nice positive report. If that was the last 5L Tetenal C-41 kit you bought they are going fast. I bought one a month ago and they just got them back in stock no more than 2 months ago.

I agree this is good news. I don't want to rain on the parade, but we should expect to see the larger retail outfits ramp up as smaller ones move away from film. 3 years ago I could buy roll film in any camera shop in my town, and now it is gone. 135, yes. 120, no.

So the collapse of 500 local markets for roll film result in 15% of those customers shelving the camera, and rest of us heading to a major mail-order place.

I will also agree that the new digital fascination is about peaked out, and some folks are returning to their roots.

Mike, your not raining on the parade. I agree. Frankly, I would rather have it this way. I find it easy to order. Granted for that last min. "Doh" it's not good but for B&H, that are VERY smart business minds, take up valuable sq. footage for this is very enlightning indeed.

B&H always had C-41 on the shelf. I've never seen them run out before today. This is also an indicator to me as guys and gals are fed up sending their color to a Pro lab and have to wait because the CVS's are simply not an option. And rodinal being completely out of stock. Well, that's just clear. I'll be a one-stop loyal customer, no sweat.

I've noticed that quite a few of my classmates here in LA LIKE processing their own c-41 film. Its just dead simple, and while at school, and free, its practically a brainless act.

I just wish that my school had a manual dip-n-dunk system so people (like me ) could process their own c-41 4x5 film. They have the chem's and the hangers (for the b/w classes), and plenty of hot water, and darkrooms with sinks, why not?

maybe its just that 4x5 isn't for the masses .

great news though!!!!

When I was there this past summer, there was quite a bit of activity at the film counter. I asked the guy "Do you have 400NC in 120"? He looked at me like I was so weird...a look that said "Of course we do, you dimwit! What do you think we are, Wal-Mart?" Lol.

B&H has the Kodak C41 chems and Tetenal powder on the shelf. The Tetenal liquids are in the basement. I think some RA4 liquids and E6 liquids might be on the shelf as well.

I'd started going to Adorama the last few years instead because it's less out of the way, so until I recently had a few needs Adorama couldn't fulfill (more paper variety, Rollei Retro in 120, C41 of course) I hadn't been to B&H in AGES. So apparently I missed the entire period when there was no film counter at all, and instead was SHOCKED to see how small and dark this new little film corner is! Better than nothing of course, but the counter used to be really long and almost overwhelming with film choice .

They had Rodinal the last time I was there, plenty of it. The time before that, nothing, and they said they always sell out of it quickly.
