Meine vater told me one man's pet valls ist einen nuther man's kurtuflle in a very poor imitation of Hoch Deutsch. Ve mustard people pride ourselves in being equally illiterate in all languages which certainly includes spelling. nicht wahr?..

I doubt Jim's responsible for all the lens and camera madness going around, although it would certainly be fun to try to attribute old gear madness to him. :D

I can see the newbies in a few years saying "I can't afford the old beat up stuff, so I have to get by on new Super Symmar XLs and Ebonys".

There's been a steady increase in interest (prices) of all 8x10 and up cameras and lenses over the past few years, especially for vintage American glass in Asian markets.

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

In particular, nice vintage portrait and pictoral lenses have skyrocketed - f:64 undone and we've come full circle!!

Yah. But what can he do about the price of Tessars? There's the challenge.

Wow! These were selling for ~$100 a year ago. No, not Jim's fault. A few years ago there was also a spike in price on 19th century brass Petzvals when one individual started bidding like a madman. S/He stopped buying, but prices never returned.

Wow. Madness, indeed.

While I doubt any single individual is responsible, Jim's tough. He can withstand all the blame we (lovingly) heap on him.

I can't even spell Vatix.

Anyways I've left all those old junkers behind. What you really want is a Bausch & Lomb Tessar 1C f4.5! Absolute magic.

If you send all your old lenses to me, I'll verify to the community that you have moved on to greener pastures!
