Awesome effect from overhead florescents

Today on my site I featured a photo by Martin Slunecko, and I just have to show you guys this. I love this shot because of the way the florescent lights, over the 25 minute exposure, created a weave over the cart. This definitely has me thinking a little differently light sources

That is cool! The lights and the cart and contents in the foreground. I always hated florescent lights, but I could learn to love this.

If the cart was pushed both directions, I don't think this pattern was made by fluorescent tubes.... in one direction there would be thin lines and in the perpendicular direction there would be fat lines... maybe it was single light bulbs or CFLs...... Cool photo!

It was in a grocery store, for 25 minutes while he went shopping. So as the cart was turned in different directions in relation to the florescent tubes, and then stopped and left there while he grabbed things from the shelf, different lights got exposed on the film.

Nice photograph. I was never able to get good results processing color negative film to b&w. Maybe I'll have to try again.

Hi fellow photographers,
glad to know you like the photo. It was photographed in local T***CO store where they indeed use long fluorescent lines. I was also surprised by the effect but my explanation is that the bold lines were exposed when I stopped the cart for a minute, looking for some particular goods, whether on "main roads" or in "avenues" -- thus the both directions. I have just a partial explanation for the "DNA spiral" -- I remember I intentionally moved the cart this way at certain point, probably under a sort of spotlight (I think there are some), but I cannot recall exact conditions.

Thanks, that's a great photo.. after I thought about it some more I came to the same idea... the lines not from motion but from the bulbs themselves....

This reminds of a project where people sent exposing Pinhole cameras by mail: quite a similar effect.
