Hello fellow large format film enthusiasts! I am looking at getting another large roll of Aviphot 200, as my current roll is running a bit low. So, I’m seeing if there is any interest from you guys!

Here is a google form you can fill that out if interested. This lets me know how many people are interested, and if I should invest in another big roll. All relevant info is on the form.

I am considering getting a 24 cm roll, not just a 12.7 cm roll. If you want BIG FILM, let me know!

EDIT:

Thank you ALL for the interest and support! I have received far more requests than I was initially expecting, and have therefore decided to stop taking orders at this time, so that I am not overwhelmed. For those still interested, I’m sure I’ll have some film left over after I am done with all the orders I have gotten so far. I’ll definitely let you guys know when I start selling the remaining film.

I see a couple of folks just put “photrio” in the name field, so I’m not sure who is asking for what. Someone wants 4x5 and 8x10 (assuming 2 of each), and someone else wants 4x5 and 120/127 (120 I can do,127 we’ll have to discuss further). Sorry for any confusion that caused that, I’ll update the form to hopefully be more clear.

I put down 4x5 and 8x10... but would probably just go for the 8x10 if it's available.

Since you will be cutting from a roll, two questions: will the sheets have a curl, and if so, will the curl be gone after processing? How will we know which side is the emulsion side? I imagine if the cut film has a curl, the emulsion would be on the inside of the curl?

Oops, ditto was for i filled out the form. Asked for 4x5 and 120. As you did suggest other sizes i threw in 127 (love the baby rollie). Shoot the moon my dad always said. The worse that could happen is you end up with a blurry pic.

I filled the form and did put Photrio since this is what the form said, I guess I misunderstood.
I did put my name on the bottom but, if you did not get it, I want two more 4x5 and one 8x10
Thanks and sorry for the troubles

Ok, looks like I certainly have a good group of folks that are interested in this buy! I’ll start putting info in a spreadsheet and see if getting a 24 cm roll would be worth doing. I’ll get in contact with all of you guys shortly as well. I have someone offering most of another 5” roll as long as I cut them some sheets from it, so the 4x5/5x7 is almost certainly happening. I’m thinking that there’s probably enough interest in 8x10 to warrant me cutting those as well, but I’ll let you know.

To answer your questions:
  • Yes, I have found that there is a slight curl to the film, and even after leaving it under heavy books for a few days, it still retains a curl. This shouldn’t affect the pictures taken with it, but it may make it slightly harder to load into holders or onto a dev reel.
  • The curl was almost completely gone after I developed it, and seeing as how my attempts to develop this film was almost a disaster (see this thread), I think it is probably safe to assume that this is a normal behavior. I think @henryyjjames has some better examples of developed films, hopefully he can provide a bit more insight into this part of the process than I can, lol.
  • Although the curl of the film does indeed indicate where the emulsion is, I also round a corner of the film to ensure no mistakes are made. I feel like this is the bare minimum I can do to make life easier for you guys, even if it takes me a bit of extra time in the dark.
Hopefully this helps answer some of your guy’s questions as well. But, if there are any more questions, feel free to reach out.

Edited to add: holy crap you guys like 8x10! Yeah, that’s definitely happening. And if you keep it up, I might have to buy a second roll of that film!

Thank you for your detailed reply. I'll be using BTZS tubes, so no worries about the curl. have to curl it anyways, to get it into the tank. Rounding a corner for us will be very helpful when loading into holders. Thanks!

Ok, WOW! I just tallied up the orders, and you guys have all ordered way more film than I was expecting! I will see if I can get the logistics sorted out, and assuming all goes well on that front, this will absolutely be happening over my Christmas break.

I’m going to go ahead and close orders for now because there’s a ton of stuff already being ordered, and I want to make sure that I can get all this done during the break. Do not worry, there will almost certainly be more film left over for those that didn’t quite make the cut.

To all that filled out the form, I’ll be reaching out individually within a couple days to confirm your order and hopefully give a bit more info on what to expect.

Have a wonderful day!
