Howdy-

I have been out of the B/W film loop for some years now and am now very seriously looking at firing up my darkroom once again, since I have beaucoup rolls of AGFA 25 and Panatomic-X in my freezer to use up before I start picking rutabagas with a step ladder.

I was wondering if there is a list available on-line regarding which B/W papers- graded and VC- are currently in production and available for purchase in the USA. For the record, I used to use Ilford Galerie and the results were truly superb for me. I suppose I could just browse the on-line stores but I was curious more than anything if there's a list around... I also don't know which papers today are good and less-than-good, or any idiosyncrasies some papers might have, e.g., an unusual response curve a la Kodak Elite...

Any and all advice/help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to apug!

I seriously doubt that there is an up to date, comprehensive list. For available in the USA, I'd start with looking at Freestyle and other vendors that sponsor apug. Also, take a look at Ilford's site (link also at the bottom of the apug page) and see what they have. Happy hunting.

Thank you for the advice. I often fail to scroll all the way down on my browser! I will peruse the current offerings at Freestyle and Ilford.

Ilford Galerie is still around though only in grades 2 and 3 and only in gloss finish. Be sure to check out Multigrade Warmtone fiber though, I love it in semi-matt and the matt MGIV as well.

Hmmm... too bad Galerie is no longer available in Grade 1- I had a use for Grade 1 paper with contrasty neg's... I reckon I can use VC though, but I LOVED the Grade 1 Galerie. Such is life.
