I follow auctions for Arca Swiss cameras on "that" auction site. I do not own an Arca but do enjoy the fantasy.

I'd like to let anyone contemplating a camera purchase know of a somewhat misleading auction on "that" site. It is for an Arca Swiss 4x5 camera, listed as "F-line."

The good news is that there are decent photos of the camera. The bad news is that it's not what I believe most people would call an F-line, the newer model. It is clearly the older model camera.

I emailed the seller through the auction site and requested he change the listing as to be less misleading. He felt I was being "outrageous."

Caveat emptor.

It's okay to say eBay here (I believe)

Could you post a link to the auction?

yaw free? With note for Arigram

looks like a nice camera to me. Perhaps I would go for it if it had orange knobs like an Orbit or that strange Italian camera from two weeks ago....

At the risk of sounding really ignorant to some of you, but what exactly is meant by the term 'yaw free'. I see it cropping up when people talk about cameras with bellows like this one. I am sure I would go 'aaahhh, that's what it means' when someone would explain this to me? (note for Arigram: the stress is on 'THAT', not on 'IT').

Thanks,
medform-norm

PS Norm is making bag bellows for our Pecoflex, so it will take wide angle lenses better and allow for more movement when focussing near infinity with a 150mm lens. Anyone wanna share a cutting pattern?

pardon my hearsay, but I can't for the life of me see why this camera is any better than my Cambo. oh well I will continue to live a blissful albeit ignorant life.

Now he is saying that it is a "C" model, said he has done more research.

Have a look at the sinar website
www.sinar.ch
(link in description of Sinar f1/f2) which explains this term better than I could!

I have one too. Despite it's age, and a long history in a pro studio (as evidenced by all the scratches and bumps) the movements all work like silk and lock solidly. Can't claim extensive experience of view cameras in general, but this is a nice camera that packs down quickly as the standards dismount easily so it is useable in the field - it's fairly light for a monorail too at around 2.8 kilos.

No, I'm NOT selling it...

Thanks David.

PS I found it in the know how section as well.
