Okay....now that I have your attention.

I am looking for a camera that never made it to the USA.

A Fuji GSW680III or GW680III

If you come across one in your local camera shop,
and they are willing to ship to the USA,
please let me know.

I know I am making my life very difficult with this
search but I think it will be worth the wait.

Thanks.

Road trip ! (well, involving substantial air travel in this case)

Fly into Osaka Kansai airport and take the fast train over to the Namba (?) district, you should have no trouble finding stuff to lighten your wallet.

Brad,
we are definitely thinking a like.

If it were not for the fact that I am going to have my first child in August, I would definitely consider this.

Two thoughts:

1) Is there an eBay-Japan?

2) And doesn't eBay now have a "Looking to Buy" service?

Regards,
George

Hi david, about the camera shop I told you about over PM replied to my email today.
They said they can handle English-language speaking customers outside of Japan and international shipping.

Email them (and ask questions) at:

info@seventhland.com

about the details of the camera(s) that you're looking for and see if they have something in stock. Just write simple, so that they can understand.

The store's webisite address is:

www.seventhland.com

But it's only in Japanese.

By the way the camera you're looking at, Fuji GSW680 at Yahoo Auction was about 1000 USD, and that's about an average in a used condition. And for the purchasing from the store you will pay the shipping fee and so on. So, I don't know how comfortable you are to order something at this price range from another country, but just take a slow step and be sure you can get what you exactly want to get.

If you need help, just PM me.

Not to totally threadjack, but looking on their website, I saw this lighting fixture-

http://www.seventhland.com/floors/tokistar/tei/2tei-003.php

Anyone able to give me a translation as to how many watts of light, and how many bulbs it takes?

It doesn't exactly say what it is, but it says the store sells the 100w bulb(s) 21w consumption made by Toshiba (called "Neoball Z") for this product. It is a florecent-lighting fixture. It's listed as 99,750yen which is, roughly 900 USD.

There are 19, 9, 8, 4 bulb types, and this 19-bulb version has 5 modes/selections (19-14-12-7-5).

Okay, since I don't know about this product and/or have no affiliation with the store, I won't go any further. You should ask them directly.

I don't know which Japanese stores that people outside of Japan use in order to buy cameras and lenses, but it seems like there aren't that many that handle international sales and shipping. Even the very popular store in Tokyo called Fujiya Camera, equivalent of KEH in my view, says on their website that they sell their stuff only domestically.

Now if you ask them or other stores in Japan by email or phone and tell them your situation(s) and exactly what you want, they might give you a different answer and be happy to deal with you, which is exactly what happened to me with the seventhland.com.
