Covered bridges-
Dead Link Removed

Closest thing I know nearby like Sloss is the Rail Museum. Lots of old ironwork.
Theres some interesting stuff at Stone Mountain too if you know where to look.

How about the dam on Vickery Creek in Roswell? Is it still there? It was in the wilderness when I lived there, so it's probably a scenic park now.
juan

Last I saw it wasn't exactly a park. It's being surrounded by houses. You need to park at the founders cemetery parking lot then walk down to it. The cemetary should be a good place for a little shooting too.

If you want to go to the dam just let me know, it's just a few minutes from where I live. I'd love to find a place nearby with more possibilties though.

Well the only sure fire thing I know would be the Railway museum. I've been there quite a few times and have always had fun shooting the old iron. Another place to look for on a similar vein would be a junkyard. If you know a junkyard owner that will let us shoot pictures in the yard during off times you can have quite a bit of fun with that. If you feel like a bit of travel the Air Museum in Warner Robins is a real treat. Some of the aircraft there require a really wide angle lens to get them all in one shot. If you prefer waterfalls a trip up to Raven Cliff would be good as well and a number of other waterfalls in the area.

Is the railway museum large format/tripod friendly. The rains lately would make for decent waterfall pis also.

Yes it is. Theres indoor and outdoor exhibits. They don't mind tripods, you just need to use common courtesy around other visitors, naturally.
This one is 4x5 on tripod in a passenger car.

I hear it's nice too, but they limit the crowd on the trails so we would need to be there fairly early I guess. This would stand a call to the rangers there to find out the exact protocol. I could take you to some nice waterfalls that are much easier to get to than those.
