Was down to the PMA today, and in the Perelman annex, they have:
Prom: Photographs by Mary Ellen Mark
Now Through October 28, 2012
Between 2006 and 2009, American photographer Mary Ellen Mark visited thirteen high school proms to create portraits of attendees with a 20-by-24-inch Polaroid Land Camera. Only five such cameras exist, and they make extraordinary and unique large-format prints.
Approximately 60 rather formal shots of a diverse assortment of high school kids all dressed up and ready to go out on the town.
20x24 Polaroids -- ooooh yeah!
In the gallery there is a 33 minute video on the same topic, filmed by Martin Bell (her husband) that interviews a bunch of the kids. It is well done, and quite entertaining.
