Just because it was a decent price, i bought 10 rolls of Ilford:
FP4- 125
Delta 100

It never occurred to me (until now) to ask anybody.......for a beginner, doing outside, handheld, Canon A-1 in manual mode, (Sacramento-ish) California light, was that a wise choice.?
I have developed 8-9-10 rolls...and have had no "problems"...but is that what you guys would have suggested, or would you have said to maybe go with a faster film (400 perhaps) for some reason.?

Use box speed until you find a problem. Which you will not. Shoot FP4 at 125 and Delta 100 at 100.

I love FP4. It's all a B&W film should be. Rediscovered it when I bought my F5 and it came with a roll in it.

Sunny 16 states 1/film speed for your shutter speed at f16 for bright/direct sunlight, f8 in open shade.

Nah. Sunny 16 states 5.6 in open shade. And it can be chacked any time with a half-decent meter.

Excellent camera, film, location combo. An ideal for walk round photography is 1/250 at f8, which is most lenses sweet spot. If the film offers you that or better, you're on a winner.

FP-4 is never a mistake-great film since it's inception and I've found especially with either ID-11 or Rodinal in any format. Bright sunny conditions I've used ASA 64-overcast 125 and develop accordingly.

Funny you should mention those two chemicals.
I am new to all of this (as I have hopefully said before) and recently developed film at home for the first time.
Not really knowing, or paying attention, I had bought ID-11. I loaded the reels, and then went to mix developer. You can imagine my shock when I needed the water at 105. It took 2-3 hours in the refrigerator before I got it down to 70.
I burned up the rest of the ID-11 and then just recently ordered Rodinal.....

You always mix powdered developer a day or two in advance if you know you'll be using it. The beauty of Rodinal and HC-110 is you don't need to worry with that. 80% of the time I use one of those two. FP-4 and Rodinal (1:75 for Rodinal) has always worked well for me.

I live in Texas where clouds are a rare thing in the summer (I think I saw a small cloud today) and I use FP-4 for a lot of my outdoor shooting..

Around here in the Summer months especially and I assume Texas as well, you can easily get 125@f5.6 from PanF.
