Is anyone familiar with the Artworks 4x5 view camera? It is sold by Fine art photo supply in Montana.

Just did a google for them and came up with a .pdf, that Kerry wrote about them that is housed at view cameras website

www.viewcamera.com/pdf/VC91-Thalmann-web.pdf

He posts here, so perhaps he can chime in.

I just tried their website, which for some reason is not working right now, but they are only about 50 miles from me, I can give them a call on Monday and see if I can get some info for you.

I just looked at their web site and the camera looks fine. I found the text interesting. It really sounded defensive to me, a couple of times they are claiming that their camera is better than others (Read: Shen Hao) because it has fewer features. For example, too many movements cause problems and a non-removable bellows is "proper" for a field camera. From reading their ad and absent any other information, I would save $200 and buy a Shen Hao.

Odd, for some reason I still can't get their website to come up...guess I will keep trying..I agree with Paul though, it they are more expensive then a Shen with less features, I would buy the shen and put the extra money saved tword a lens.

The owners of Fine Art are having their website updated. They moved to Montana from Rochester, NY, last Spring, and the website makeover, which includes new products, is not yet complete.

I'm not connected except that I live in Rochester, and was in contact recently via e-mail. I had hoped to meet the owners, but it's kind of a long drive now...

But Earl.... What a drive. And when you get there, you're in Montana. God's country.

Tim: You're right about that! 'Cept I probably wouldn't make it past Lake Superior. That's my God's Country!

I been to Lake Superior, beautiful place, but it don't hold a candle to the Rockies!

Sorry Earl, you should come out and visit us

Can put you up if you need!

Dave

Earl; I can't remember the guy's name but he's still in Rochester. Fine Art sold all the stuff to Photographers' Formulary.
