Sorry for the delay folks..

I decided to begin a new thread to follow the camera around the globe and also to publish the "final FINAL" list..

Blackdog the camera(s) began their journey to you this morning via my trusty local Oifig an Phoist. Inside you will find an envelope with the instructions and the mailing list. Oh and some cameras! Good luck - I have to admit.. the decision to shoot the obvious "cornerstones" shot or the obscure one was a tough one.. I like to think I've gone somewhere in the middle

There were further changes to the finalised list but hopefully we're on the way now without any hitches..

The final list is : -

  1. K_Jupiter (done)
  2. Síle (done)
  3. Blackdog
  4. Catem
  5. SteveSmith
  6. Bjazz
  7. Rst
  8. MartinB
  9. TheBanana
  10. Walter23
  11. Mooseontheloose
  12. Copake_Ham
  13. ShawnRahmen
  14. Jnanian
  15. Tiberiustibz
  16. TimGray
  17. Cdholden
  18. FilmSprocket
  19. mrmekon
  20. Athanasius80
  21. Guissimo
  22. Largely
  23. Sidearm
  24. Flatulent1
  25. Lmn
  26. Síle (back home)

Good luck everyone and above all.. enjoy the exchange :D

Thank you Sile! Still not sure what to shoot...if only I had more time to decide.

Funny you should say that.. even though I knew for over a year what the theme was, once the camera was in my hands my mind went totally blank! So hopefully you'll have plenty of time to decide and change your mind again!

Blackdog no sign of it hitting your shores yet? I just hope the Irish Postal system doesn't set the tone for the rest of the journey :surprised:

"....Oh and some cameras"

What did I miss? Are we getting more than one camera to shoot?

You are indeed Shawn.. There's the Shoot 1 camera Canon Sure Shot and a "surprise" B&W disposable in the box. You don't have to use it, but if you want to it's there for you to take a photo of whatever your heart desires .. :D

Here I am, all excited, and I'm near the bottom of the list. Only 16 months to wait...

Does anyone happen to know if Blackdog has fallen off the face of the planet? The camera went out to him now almost 3 weeks ago.. and even though the Irish post can be bad.. I know it's not THAT bad!

Not quite the auspicious beginning I was hoping for!

Perhaps we should have sacrificed a chicken for an initial pagan chicken recipe before sending the camera out.

I secretly sacrificed two chickens and a duck before launching Camera 6 in the hope that it would make it's way safely on it's journey..
It appears they died in vain...

K_Jupiter and I have made a number of attempts by PM and email to contact the first person on the list in the past weeks and have heard nothing. Unfortunately I think we have to concede that it may be gone..

So.. what do we do?

I can re-jig the list about, get a fresh throw away B&W/Colour and send it to the second person on the list and start again? Or K_Jupiter has very generously offered to provide another SureShot camera for "Around the world with camera 6 ½". I feel his losing one camera and the disposable is more than enough already though..

If anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to them! Sorry everyone.. I never thought we'd fall at the first fence!

Seems like a complicated way to get a free compact camera.

Can I suggest that someone loans a nice Leica or a Hasselblad for the next round. I'm in..... oh, and I'm thinking about changing my name!

It's very nice of you, Tim, to offer yet another camera, although, if you supply us with yet another SureShot, you should somehow be compensated. You've already supplied us with cameras, film, processing, scanning and posted all of our images in the past.

There's no need for an apology, Síle. You did everything right.

As a side note, I just noticed that it is possible to view a member's most recent activity (time) on the APUG site.

Let's leave some room and call it 6 1/8. Though it's entirely possible that the aforemention soul will return home from his australian cruise and say "oh look!" and send it on its merry way...

Let's conduct a rudamentary pulse check before sending this next one off by PMing all involved and asking if they're ready to receive the camera, if they'll be home and not traveling the world at that time etc. Those who don't respond within a week get axed from the list.

I think this time we should try a goat...

professional organization ...

send a post card ? i can imagine that this person may be on vacation
or away ... are vacations in europe/uk still typically in august ?
i hope he/she is OK ...

I like Holgas.

I just sent a PM to Black Dog. His recent activity indicates he was online just yesterday, so he hasn't vanished. He may simply be unaware.

It's very expensive to ship a goat around the world. Besides, their optics are weird. The shutters go the wrong way.

Oh well then, maybe we should just sacrifice one before sending off the camera.

Just FYI to everyone in the group, although I think it will affect Walter the most since he has to send me the camera...I'll be in Japan from late June to early September. I don't know if the camera will make it's way to BC in that time, but if it does, Walter, you'll either have to pm me for my address in Japan, or it'll have to wait until I get back, or I'll sacrifice a Hello Kitty doll and be done with it. ;-)

I suspect you don't have to lose any sleep over it.

If you are in Tokyo check out the great photo stores near Shinjuku Station, both new and used.

Amazing prices on film, not so good prices on cameras but what the hey.

And if you find a Canon Sureshot, you know what to do. :D

"Hi-will be posting it this time next week [I'm currently away on holiday].

Jake [Black Dog]"
