Hi,

I am in the process of building a water panel and I have an Arkay CP-1000 as a mixing valve. I do not have a manual and I am trying to figure out which of the two inlets is for hot water and which is for cold. There seem to be no marking.
Looked for a manual on the net with no sucess. Does anybody have a manual, or can anybody tell me which inlet is for the hot water?

thank you

Ok, figured it out. As you face the CP-1000 the hot is on the left and the cold is on the right (it makes sense, just think of a generic sink with two knobs).
However now I fear I bought a faulty device. There are three knobs on the device, one on/off, one for temperature, and one for flow.
They all seem to work but it seems that the temperature knob also controls flow. As I turn the temperature knob to cold, it seems that the flow becomes more and more restricted. I have to compensate by using the flow knob. However as I get to all cold, the flow stops even if the flow knob is wide open. Is this normal?
Thanks for any help.

Hot on left, etc. is pretty common with all valves not just thermostatic mixing valves. The range of temperatures we need in the darkroom is roughly 65-100F 20-38C if you inlet water on the cold side is above 68 degrees as you dial down the temp you will be getting lower and lower flow, ditto for the hot side when you approach 100 if you water is only about 100 to start. That's normal. If you are saying that when you "crank" the temperature knob all the way to the left or right and the flow stops, that is also normal behavior. If on the other hand, you are getting these issues in the mid-range your valve may need a rebuild. I don't think Arkay (and Pako and Calumet, etc.) made their own mixing valves the actual valve under the label is likely a Powers, Moen, Watts, or other.

Thanks,

I did not think of the temperature of the incoming cold water
I will check it out.
