How does one tell if their cold lamp needs replacement? No its not dead i.e. no output but are there indications that it is on its way out? Or do they last forever?

Like florecent bulbs they get black ends n start to flicker alot no matter how hot it is.

I've been using mine for nearly 10 years, so far no signs of anything... yet.

You can always relace the bulbs easy enough. I just did one for my son. I picked up someone's old bulb reasonably cheap and installed it in about 15 minutes, it's that easy to DIY.
