Hi all!

It's been a long time wince I've been on the forum, but have come across something recently which I thought was worth posting, in case others have had the same experience (it may also have been discussed at length, but I couldn't find a thread when I searched).

I use Arista Private Reserve for all my RC printing, which is mostly family pictures, proofing and just playing around. I made a modest bulk order a couple years ago and have just opened up a new box of 5x7 which seems to have an issue...

I noticed I had a thin (ie, hair strand thin) white line, perfectly straight, running across the paper. My first thought, naturally, was that I had a scratch on my negs from storage in sleeves, but that would leave a black line, so I then thought more drastically, some sort of lens damage and this was some sort of artefact... Annoying, a little disappointing, but not the end of the world, not worth changing lenses since I was just proofing snapshots at the time. It wasn't until I printed a couple images on FB that I noticed: No Line!!

This paper has been stored well, inside it's original black plastic, inside original box, inside a bigger black plastic sleeve, inside drawers in my office.

My only conclusion is that this is a defect from production, has anyone else experienced this with Arista Private Reserve? I've pulled out a few random sheets from the stack and it appears they're all the same. Probably not much I can do since it was probably two years ago that I bought this paper, just interested to any other reports.

Cheers,
Steve

I would discuss the matter with Freestyle, nonwithstanding the legal situation.
Checking the other remaining boxes could yield more damaged sheets, though from whatever result of one sheet one cannot deduce on the rest of the box.

I was just having that thought myself actually, at least it might give them a heads up on that particular batch.
