Arista Premium 100...is it PlusX 125??

According to several witches, a one-legged pirate named Bill and some other assorted persons of Quality, yes. Even my house-trained frog insists.

(Just kidding, there has been a few threads on this and it seems likely it is Plus-X.)

It is probably my favorite 35mm film. Somehow I find most of the negs beautifully printable...developed in D76 1:1 using the Kodak times for Plus-X.

It is, and Arista Premium 400 is really Tri-X too. I've used 'em both and the results are indistinguishable from the Kodak branded stuff.

Not only are the results if you shoot and develop them the same (in the same tank for my experiments), Freestyle labels it as made in the US.

What else is made in the US?

I love the Arista 400 (aka Tri-X) but for medium speed I prefer Legacy Pro 100. Since this film is made in Japan, it probably comes from Fuji but Fuji makes two different 100 speed films. Many think it's actually Acros 100. While I'm glad that these fine companies provide these films for us on a strict budget, it would be nice for them to be made in 120 as well like Ilford did many moons ago.

Acros 100 is a fabulous film and you can get it in 120 for just 2.69$ or maybe it is 2.79$ a roll now. i find it hard to complain about that price.

Just checked B&H and they have it for $2.69. And yes, I agree that it is a fabulous film. If you're doing long exposures it is especially nice because of its excellent reciprocity departure characteristics.

Thoughts on the posibility that it is really Plus-x

It is interesting that the Bar codes are simalar for the Arista Premium and the Kodak brand product. The bar codes on DX cartriges have a first digit that is makers choice, the last digit as 3 for 24 exp and 4 for 36 exp. The digits in the middle are suposed to be derived from the maker and product codes for a given film.

In both cases the middle digits are the same for Premium 100, and 400 as the codes used for Plux-X or Tri-x respectively.

The only "funny" thing is that the 100 is also DX coded as 100ISO. Plus-X is of course coded as 125ISO. My postulate is that Freestyle sells a lot of bulk film, and available DX coded empty cassettes come in 100 and 400 so they asked the film to be marked 100.

Mind you if you want to be SURE you are buying Plus-X you probably HAVE to get it in a yellow coloured package.

Is Arista Premium 100 re-badged Kodak Plus-X 125?
I was told that the Arista Premium was Tri-X 400?

Yes, it is...and the 400 is Tri-X. The stuff has been out for about two years now, and there are many threads about this that probably have the info you need to believe this. Personally, I believed it when everyone I know at a certain photo retailer told me so in person, in one way or another, and then I tested the 400 myself. It is silly to me that there are still some who debate or question this. It's been settled objectively for nearly two years.
