Arista Legacy Pro prices in new (winter '09) Freestyle catalog

Well, the Winter 2009 catalog is now available (as a pdf) online at the Freestyle site.

The LegacyPro films are now listed with price: ISO100 is $2.39 for 135-36, and ISO400 is $2.79. Strangely enough the 24 exposure roll is the same price as the 36 exposure.

We assume these are Acros and Neopan400, no? If so, the prices represent a considerable price reduction from the Fujifilm branded boxes.

Note that 100' rolls are available, for those who like Neopan and wanted rolls.

I regret that 120 size is not available

I have used a very little bit of Acros and would like to experiment more with it. This seems like a more cost effective way of doing that.

Also, since the prices are more than the Arista Premium I wonder how demand for each will shape up. I suspect that the very strong Yen reshaped the original target price.

One quick way to compare price changes... since Freestyle has not changed the page layouts very much, is to open the new and old catalog (pdfs) in separate tabs (if your browser supports tabs), view at 100%, and flip between them. Doing so, one can notice some price changes easily. In this case, some Kodak prices have gone up while others have come down, a couple of Ilford prices went up, but some Foma prices have come down.

As does the box label. As Konica is out of the film business, that leaves only Fujifilm as a source.

BTW, the online ordering now has Legacy Pro also, saying it is out of stock and expected 20 January (just in time for the new semester!)

At $2.39, the Legacy would cost more than the SS...? (even after they raised the price of the SS)

Looks like development data isnt listed yet, but a little detective work! If you look at the image here, it says "For processing times visit: www.fsdistribution.biz/legacyprofilm.php" in fine print - which is a dead link. Closest I came was this: http://www.fsdistribution.biz/index.php?l=legacypro. So we don't have the development data to work off yet, it seems. I'm leaning towards it being Neopan SS though.

As Freestyle describes the film thusly: "LegacyPro® 100 features unparalleled tight grain " ... gives me the impression that they are speaking of Acros. Surely the development times will be listed before shipment on the 20th, so we will soon know.

It's still a great time to be a film photographer! Just when they said it was dead, we now have Premium, Legacy & the Ultrafine films to choose from (in addition to the brand names) , plus the return of some Agfa papers and rumors of APX 100 & 400 returning.

Now, if we can get Freestyle to get Pan X, K-25, Super XX, Ektar 25, etc. rolling again...are you listening Freestyle? (we know you are )

I'd be very surprised if that was Acros as it's a significantly cheaper price than normal (then again so is Premium 400 vs 400TX). The 400 is probably 400-PR (Neopan 400).

Solid evidence now points to it being Acros. Don't be surprised that one can find Fujifilm b&w so cheaply. In 120 size, Acros is the least expensive film I can find from the Big 3 makers of b&w. Indeed, Fujifilm label 120 size Acros is no more expensive than the Freestyle Arista Legacy Pro 100 35mm film!

D-76 1+0: 7.25
D-76 1+1: 10.5

LP400 is:
D-76 1+0: 6.5
D-76 1+1: 9.5

These times exactly line up with Fujifilm Acros 100 and Fujiifilm Neopan 400.

I think we will all need to show extreme (much more so than now) intrest in the current Kodachrome 64 to get any other speeds back.
