If indeed Legacy Pro is Acros, then there's really no need to go with exotic developers. I use a lot of Acros in medium format and the film is simply gorgeous - one of my favorites. I have developed it with XTOL and D-76 and find nothing lacking in terms of tonality, film speed, or any other criteria you care to mention. The negatives almost print themselves, they are that good. I have not tried Rodinal or any other types of developer, and for some users these developers may give that extra something that they're looking for. But for all around use, these generic, off the shelf developers work great; and by following the manufacturer's recommendations, you'll be very close to hitting a home run the first time at bat.

Rodinal is exotic? To me it is the original off the shelf developer and where I go first with slow films. It is great with neopan 100.

Rodinal, not really; but it's not my developer of choice for a lot of things. I don't like it primarily because it costs me some film speed. Most of my photography is hand held, small format stuff, and you want every last bit of speed (without the need to resort to push processing which I'll do only if it's absolutely necessary) you can get if it means shooting at 1/60th as opposed to 1/30th. I was thinking more along the lines of those who want to play around with pyro or glycin type developer where there i precious little "official" documentation. These are fine if you want to play; but the way I work, I don't want to experiment. I want something that works first time, every time.
