Arista 100 EDU -- green?

Just developed my first roll of Arista EDU 100, and when I poured out the developer, it was... green???

My stop and fixer took on the same greenish tinge - thankfully they were pretty much exhausted and ready to be tossed out anyway, so I dumped 'em.

I generally don't pre-wash, so I don't know if that would make a difference (would it?). But assuming this is the same stuff as Foma, does Foma 100 do the same thing? Is it specific to 120-size roll film?

I was planning to pick up some Foma 100 in 35mm tomorrow, but if it turns the developer green... no thanks! (I have used Foma 200 and didn't have this issue.)

And is there any harm in re-using green stop/fixer?

Foma 400 in 120 does this too. Can't imagine the dye affects the stop or fixer.

I do a pre-wash so it doesn't mess up the colour of my indicator stop bath,

The green dye can largely be washed out by pre-washing if it bothers you. Some films have a red coloration, some have a pink tone. I believe it is used to help prevent halation (light reflecting into the film from the back of the camera.) It is frustrating but doesn't seem to effect the performance of the stop bath or the fixer. At least it seems to wash out pretty quickly, unlike the purple/pink used by Kodak on TMAX.

The film itself is quite green, especially the large format sheets.

I've used fixer coloured by this dye with no ill effects. (Actually, the colour usually fades after a week or two.)

It's normal as others have said. It shouldn't affect anything. It's a mixture of stuff they add to stop the film from sticking to itself as well as an anti-halation layer as well.

Yep, same thing with the 8x10 Foma 100 I've used for years. I do a pre-wash which removes much of the green dye, but a bit still makes it all the way to the fixer. Doesn't harm anything.

I never use a stop bath and just give the film a minute in water twice with one change. By the time the Fomapan hits the fixer there is no green. Sure the developer changes color, it has no effect. Use your developer one shot and the green won’t even offend your aesthetic.

But now I'm doubting my memory as it has been a little while...

The color is not an issue. It washes out quickly in a pre wash and doesn't affect the negatives in any way.Kinda like it myself, it looks cool in the beaker when poured out of the film tank. But remember: it's not an issue.
