Argus A focus distance

Has anyone done tests to find the actual near and far focus distances on an Argus A? I shot test frames today wide open, and to be honest, it looked like nothing was in perfect focus, but as near as I can tell, the optimum close focus distance is just under 9 feet (2.7 meters). I haven't tested the far focus position. Just wondering.... Matt

That's pretty close. You probably should check out the Argus Collectors Group for specific info. I can tell you from personal experience, however, that shooting that lens wide open is not going give sharp results at any distance, unless purely by accident. This is one you need to stop down to at least f/8, unless you like fuzzies. It depends heavily on depth of field, so smaller is better. Have fun!
