We know that some of you are still using a notepad, and pencil ...

No need to be negative, so I'm not interested in those comments !

I don't make that many calls, so I feel that the iPhone should serve a
better purpose, if it can help with the photographic situation, that's a plus.
I got the PhotoToolsPro App. a few months ago but like most hi-tech gear,
I am not getting the maximum benefits from it.

If you purchased the App. have you been using it regularly ?
Any advice that you can share, so that we can use it properly.
Any additional features, or upgrades you would like to have ?

When Verzion sells the Iphone, this the first app I will buy. Foe me this is a no-brainer.

I have the Massive Dev Chart and it's handy to use, like email I can get into the program faster than it takes to boot the computer and from about anywhere. The other program phototools is one that I wouldn't immediately get, first it's ten bucks and second it has components that I wouldn't use, it all boils down to what is there that I'd use. I just looked at the app page site and now I can't remember any function that I would want. That's not good for an app. Put this way I don't like standing out in the field typing into a phone.

The LightMeter app is pretty cool too, and surprisingly accurate.

Sorry, I don't have one - but it's nice to hear that people are putting them to good use. I came to China from Canada about 3 months ago and many, many people have an iPhone so I may just have to buy one to fit in. It's nice to know there are some useful applications out there for us filmies.

I think I need to get a stylus to operate the App. a bit more efficiently.
Especially using the iPhone outdoors during the Winter.
I'm paying a monthly bill for the phone so it's going to serve a useful purpose.

The LAST thing I want anywhere near me when I am out making photographs is a freaking cell phone. Gets left in the car.

I'm using it and it's working well for me. As a relative newcomer to LF I don't have any long established notebook habits so the ap helps me to remember what needs to be recorded. The ability to add a photo to the notes using the phone's camera is a nice detail. I'm finding that the more I use it the easier and faster it's becoming to use. A hint for any of these aps is to not turn the ap off between shots but rather turn the phone display off with a quick tap of the power button. That way you're not waiting for the ap to boot up when you're ready to enter more info.

Yes they have some great Iphone apps for analog photographers. One of the greatest apps since sliced bread is Massive Dev Chart. I use it all the time. It calculates dilutions and compensating developing times for various temps. You could even store your own film and developer combinations. I have an Iphone 3GS running IOS4 which is a real headache. I've and to restore my phone many times when it get's hosed. When I used Massive Dev Chart on my restored phone, all my saved custom times are gone. Use with caution. Record everything on your Cellulose Analog Device also AKA on a sheet of paper. My guess is that PhotoToolsPro won't remember your precious data when your phone gets restored. I work as a techie and an artist at heart. After seeing some computing disasters at work I've learned that paper doesn't crash like a computer. I make my living with technology, but I don't put all my faith in it.

That's why I set it to Airplane Mode when necessary.
No Ringing, Beeping, Buzzing, not even Text Messages
can be received in Airplane Mode. And there is always
a notepad, and pencils in the camera bag, just in
case the need for an analog moment is required.

Hi Steve,

If I lived on The Isle of Wight, I would not have need for a cell phone either.

But having to drive on the Long Island Expressway, a cell phone
provides a wee bit of comfort, just in case of an emergency.
And when I'm stuck in traffic, I can get updated with APUG !
I wonder how many of us are APUG addicts, I got the shakes
when the site was down for upgrades for three days ...

According to something I read a while ago, Long Island was once named the Isle of Wight by European settlers. Unfortunately I can't find that information now, just tons of information on Isle of Wight, Virginia.
