So now that we have an estimated price for the Fuji GF670--about $2400 (maybe a bit less for street price), are you buying one? If so, what makes it a good value for you, if not--why?

I had reckoned with 1200-1600 usd/euros. The suggested price is just a bit too much. For that money I can buy a used Mamiya 6 or 7 with two nice lenses and have something left for a nice bag/films/chemistry/etc as well. Or a small Hasselblad system. Or some Fuji RF's.
I understand that the new camera is a niche product and accordingly priced. That is all very fine, but to me makes it not worth the money. (It is a nice camera though...)

Not right now, but more for reasons of my own financial situation than the price of the camera. Maybe later in the year or next year if things improve.

Having just shelled out 2,038 on some Bronica Gear and 1,005 on a Shen Hao outfit, I don't think I will be buying one.

I'm still of the thought that we are all jumping the gun here in assuming the price will be a direct translation of the Yen. I continue to hear over and over that the Japanese market tends to dump when it comes to the US/UK and it could be well under $2400 USD and possibly $1400-$1600 USD. I will hold out on the poll until Voigtlander issues a price, which could be March at PMA in Vegas.

Too rich for my blood. I am actually relieved -- with a price that high, I don't even feel any temptation. I think it looks great, but honestly there is no chance it would ever be my primary camera. So $2,000 is way too much for me. The state of the economy makes that starker. But I would have felt that way 6 months ago, too.

I'm delighted the camera is being introduced but it's way way beyond my financial reach unfortunately. I hope it does sell well to those whose budget can stretch to the price asked.

I already have a GW670II. For the price of this new folder, I could buy a GSW690 and a GW690 and still have some money left. Or I could buy a Mamiya 7 with 2 lenses. Or buy just a G(S)W690 and spend the rest of the money on a nice trip abroad together with the GW690.

The camera looks great, it's just way to expensive.

I wanted this one bad. It would have been my main MF camera, bumping my Yashica MAT-124G from that position. As I said in the other thread, I have been patiently saving my dollars for months while waiting for a price hint. Currently the magnet on the air duct in my darkroom is holding US$1010 in cash.

But a suggested retail price of US$2400 is like a dagger through that magnet. Sadly, it can't possibly happen. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last time, that my "want" will exceed my "can have". Unfortunately in this case the delta is huge...

I was content with the previously quoted price of $1,200 USD...since when will it be $2,400...I understand well that fiat currency is essentially worthless, but still...dang...

No Fuji whatchamajigger for I.

I use medium format and I love it, but I do a lot of closeup work which is best left to an SLR (no parallax to worry about).

I love MF, but love my Hasselblad. What's the big new advantage? Mainly the compact size? What can we expect of the optical quality?

My answer doesn't apply to the poll. No, because it doesn't interest me. I only need one camera, and I have it already.

But $2,400 I personally don't think is too bad for a camera of the caliber that the Fuji cameras usually are. Mechanically and optically they are second to none.

No. Because it is too expensive, not stunningly unique, and I would prefer 6x9 for hand held pictures. I would rather spend that money on a Mamiya 7 kit if I wanted a 6x7 rangefinder.

Nice camera but does not interest the Jazzer. My Mamiya RB67, M645 and Bronica ETRSI are enough for this jazz guy.

Hmmm will there be a "Stimulus" Voucher for this folder?

For half of the Japanese price I can get a second-hand Hasselblad and set myself up with an awful lof of film with the change.

Or I can stick to my Rolleiflex(es) and buy a stupendous amount of film.

That said, if the price comes down for the world market -- which the consensus seems to suggest is possible -- then it may turn into an interesting travel option; the thought of lugging a single competent folder is a lot more compelling than the bulk of a more sophisticated outfit, especially if you're making a point of travelling light.

No stimulus voucher, but maybe you could adapt the $40 government coupon for a digital-to-analog TV signal converter box.

It's a lot of cash, my Mamiya 7ll kit is without doubt a better photographic tool
and I don't need one.

BUT!
I doubt I will be able to resist the temptation to buy one.
I'm a sucker when it come to RFs, love em.

JON.
