Hi, as an architecture photographer the Arca Swiss p0 hybrid seems awesome. I just don’t want to shell out $1k

Do you know of anything comparable? It’s an inverted ball head with independent axis fine adjustments.

Thank you.

A geared pan tilt head perhaps.
For architecture you may not need the range of motion that the P0 ball provides.

The leveling elements are available separately, without the P0 ball for a fair bit less, though not cheap.

I use my P0 head + quick release for everything up to 5x7, it has a lot of control compared to many ball heads, but I think anything much larger would be challenging.

What size camera are you working with?

Hello,

It seems that adding the name 'Aarca-Swiss to any item drives up the price by $100 or higher. Is there a solution using an Aarca -Swiss style mount that is not so costly?

Thank you

You could check some of the offerings from Leofoto. They are well-made Chinese copies of more expensive designs from respected manufacturers, surely violating a lot of intellectual property protections. Not quite as good, but a fraction of the price. They used to make a decent copy of the p0, but Arca swiss probably went after them.

After 50 or so years doing photography professionally I finally bought an Arca Swiss D4 geared head. I thought I was nuts spending that much on tripod head. UNTIL I had it my hands. Great quality, so precisely made it has, and doesn’t need, locks on the movements. It has quick release of the gears for quick major adjustments. Don’t buy a cheaper knockoff. And spend a bit more for the quick release tripod mount as they say don’t just toss your tripod with head i the truck!
