APUG Appeal - Please send a 'Thank you!' to Fuji

Thanks to everyone for the terrific response!

If I were to thank Fuji, which is stupid, I would sent it to Japan and not through the UK branch of the company to be forwarded.

Gawd Curt,

Lighten up okay? Just about every one of yer recent post's sound like they're being written by a whiny little poopy pants 3 year old with a chip on his shoulder. You are starting to remind me of Scarpitti/Ornello or whatever it is he is calling himself these days.

Not me, I don`t have nothing to ask or thanks to Fuji or anyone else, after all, I pay a price for the products and that`s my thanks to the manufacturer.
Aren`t we overeacting here?

Cheers

André

I have to agree. These manufacturers are in business not politics. E-mails & petitions are nonsense. If you want to keep a product in the marketplace then spend your money on it. Profit is what matters to these companies not "thank you"'s.

As a manufacture, the thank you's mean alot to us, sometimes more than the small profit margins we work on, and it does not matter how big or small your company is, if you don't want to send a thanks, that is great, but no need to say derogitory stuff, I am sure as with my company, fuji would appriciate it, but they don't expect it.

Thanks to those who have sent a note, and if not, just keep buying their films, I am sure they appriciate it as well.

I shoot colour very rarely, but when I do, Portra 160 NC is my choice, I dislike the highly saturated colours of FUJI, a matter of taste of course.

Cheers!

André

I shoot Portra 160 VC all the time. I just thanked Fuji and sent kindest regards. Why not join in?

...Showing appreciation should be a way of life.

It is so easy to say, "Thank you"...and spread a little warm fuzzy. It is also easy to complain or be negative...but what good will it do in the long run. If these companies are to continue producing the products we like and use, we must tell them so. Having been in the driver's seat of a corporation, and owning my own outfit, I know all profits aren't counted in dollars and cents...that's my two cents anyway...thank-you card sent to Japan yesterday...

just sent my email...as I use (love) their NPS film for 2 1/4 and 4x5 formats.

i am sending a written letter to japan. even though i don't have the funds to purchase their products as often as i'd like, i want to show my appreciation for their commitment. i have always been a big fan of fuji products. besides that, the japanese culture is not as pessimistic and money driven as the western world. i think they will greatly appreciate any positive response.

Hi,
My email's on its way, I might send a letter direct also, I'm getting weary of the bleat that film has no place today.

daniel

I mailed to Fuji and had a very kind and warm reply.

Thanks for the tip - I sent an e-mail to the UK addy provided. I mainly shoot Ilford, but like others, I need colour sometimes - and my experiments with Acros suggest it will probably be a permanent part of my "arsenal".

I can not believe the negativity of some people, and also the utter delusion still present with some. We have to speak out. Did it ever occur to the detractosr of this approach that perhaps the sales figures (which admittedly are the bottom line) could be influenced significantly by an interaction with communities such as this one? Perhaps a bright exec at Fuji might be inspired to see a way to make more money by the interaction of his customers - rather than simply dumping the baby with the bath water (like Kodak).

And one more thing: people are people. We all like a kind word, we all work a little harder when we feel appreciated. If nothing else, it can't do any harm.

Peter.

I had a warm reply today from Fuji.UK with a complimentary offer for Fuji magazine and assurance of Fuji's commitment to film. I hope they stay committed for next 20-30 years?

Greg

Well I just got a reply from Fuji thanking me for their support. Yes it appears to be a 'form' email but that doesn't surprise me, I wouldn't expect them to reply to every mail they've received individually. No doubt others will receive theirs soon enough. Got the same offer for a complimentary copy of their magazine.
Thats more response than I've ever had from Kodak.

I sent an email to Fuji and got this reply:

Not meant to be controversial, erased!

Why don't you get off your high horse, you have made your point very clear and now are being redundant, if you don't see the need for a thank you, then for gods sake, don't send it, I am sure enough here have sent a thank you, that Fuji appriciates it.

Dave,

Please don`t take it personnaly or seriously, I was just being sarcastic!
As for the horse, negative, I don`t horseback ride.
I agree on the redundancy point though.

Have nice light, Dave!

Oh, for the record, I don't buy Fuji products, I use almost exclusively Ilford (save for some period with TriX and Rodinal). Fuji is hard to find here and I don't shoot color.

But I still wanted to give them a nice word or two.
With the dissapearing of Kodak and Agfa, its good to hear that a large company that is strong in digital keeps their ties with silver.

After all, they are still named Fuji-Film-.

Oh, yes, I never mentioned in my letter to them that I was an APUGer. How did they find out? Are they watching APUG closely and noting every user? Or maybe they run a search engine on my name and found APUG?

Andre, if you disagree with people expressing their gratitude thats fine, but please keep your negativity to yourself. I see enough of negativity about film as it is.

Btw, they have offered complimentary copies of their magazine. That's better than nothing. I never even got single a reply from Kodak.

Sent my "thank you" via the US office. I don't use Fuji materials but would use them in the future as needed.
