Obviously it doesn't detect a new cartridge. If I put a battery into mine (I still have several APS cameras) and then put a new cartidge (yes, I have some old ones, but they still give pictures), the camera advances it to the first photo. If I put a delopped cartridge, they give another error message. Try a developped cartridge, it should give a different message.

If you gently insert the tip of a scissors into the center spindle of the cassette, you should be able to turn (clockwise) and change the indicator. It should make a click sound at each number.

You could try this with a processed cassette (4) and change it to (1), load the camera and see what happens.

I already tried, I even have a special tool too open the 'door' and to wind the roll. but the silver contacts on the bottom of the film roll seems not always be the same as the indication on the top of the roll... there for I was curious for the silver 'combination instead of the white top indication..

I see what you mean, the contacts of the opposite side of the cartridge like in this picture on Etsy

I'm not at home at the moment, but I could take photos of a new and of a devlopped cartridge next week. If someone has them at hand please help...

The silver combination should move are you turn the center spindle, if not then it could be a faulty cassette.
Maybe check the camera contacts inside the cassette chamber (opposite the door opening) and see if they need cleaning. A cotton bud dipped in some alcohol should do the trick.

Here is your APS in picture order.
First is new film.
Second is film partially used.
Third is film exposed.
Fourth is film developed.

Although the contacts seem clean, I'll give it a try with the alcohol..

hi, did you manage to solve the issue? I have the same Contax TIX with the same issue where it doesn’t want to advance new film. I would like to give it a chance but seems that it’s a waste of money
