I have always liked this photo, particularly the guy nonchalantly walking that bomb across the deck.It must have been great having all the Kodak High Speed Infrared film you wanted in large sheets.

It was a sad day when Kodak killed HSI in sheets!

Knowing how talented Steichen was with B&W film, I am not all that sure that this picture was shot on Infra-Red film. He was probably knowledgable on how to instruct his unit in how to use red filters and pan (?) film. I don't remember Kodak High Speed infrared film becoming available until after WW2 at which time Steichen hyad returned to civilian life. Infrared yes, but not High Speed Infrared......Regards!

You are probably right oldtimer about the Hi speed part, but infrared for sure.
