I posted a link to his work (not here at APUG) a couple of years ago only to be told "oh anyone can do that" and "yeah but it's just boring after a few shots"

(this of course was from a lot of folk who think the height of photographic virtue is photos of random individuals checking their 'phone in a pavement cafe.)

still, I think his work is superb. thanks clive.

I'm surprised me and cliveh would ever have been interested in the same work, but I have long been an admirer of Titarenko's City of Shadows, St Petersburg and Time Standing Still series. A wonderful artist and superb darkroom craftsman.

Just because I don't share the same style, I still appreciate their talent.

that seems rather a lot.
I just found a copy for £8 (which seems to be about $10 these days) in paperback
Or £40 new for the hardback

That is a huge jump in price for sure. I was looking for a Fan Ho book and they have it for $300. Not sure why the prices have went up so high so quick. In Fan Ho case maybe because he recently passed away but Alexey i don't know.

I certainly like several of his frames that he printed. He has WAY More knowledge of photography than i do.
My "problem" with relating to a lot of photographers, i think, is that many are artists that took to photography. I really do not have much artistic ability. I am a blue collar dude, that did 27 years in Painters Local 4 in San Francisco, and i am now rediscovering my interest in cameras.
I do not suffer any artistic angst that many of these Popular/Well Known photographers seem to have. I am driven by much more Mechanical/Physical aspirations. I should have been a photo-journalist in the 1960-1990 time period.
Art ability is probably one big reason these guys and gals become so successful.
I would dig seeing more of his NYC Shots. Love his darkroom and darkroom skills...completely jealous of his water consumption.:pouty:

This one I've not heard of, Clive. 'Very nice, indeed - as are most of your posts. I appreciate you posting about masterful artists.
