APHS fixer help

I just started playing with Freestyle APHS to make enlarged negatives. When I put the APHS film in the fixer, the image bleaches out entirely and I'm left with a sheet of yellow film. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

The fixer, you're sure about that? What strength
and how long? Dan
