Anything similar to LPD for warmtone?

I print mainly on Ilford Warmtone RC, and used to like the tones that I got when using LPD developer 1:6 with this paper. I've been using other developers for a while and can't seem to get the same result as I had with LPD. For warmtone prints, I like a subtle warmth, with the highlights a bit "cream" in appearance. It's a bit hard to describe. I've tried a few other developers (Dektol, Legacy Eco-Pro, Harmon Wamtone, others) and the low and midtones are more reddish-brown, and the highlights don't have the cream effect as with LPD. I get something of a split tone appearance, which I don't like. I tone all my prints in selenium, so that's been a constant.

It seems that LPD is now either not available and/or very high in price. My question is, has anyone used a developer with warmtone paper that provides a similar tones as LPD? It's a pretty subjective question, but I thought I'd give it a try.

B&H has gallon jugs of LPD @ $59. .....while its $82 at Freestyle.
It's one of my favourite developers and lasts well.
Ilford Multigrade is $78.50 / 5 liter jug.

Well, clearly I should have checked before posting this! I see that LPD is indeed available once again, and at its normal price. When I checked a few weeks ago, everywhere was out of it, and I saw prices posted at $100. I'm now a very happy individual!

And thanks for the Selectol recommendation, it seems like one that might be useful for some situations.

As far as commercially packaged print developer for warmtones is concerned, Ilford Bromophen has a lot going for it.

I just checked B&H site, some chemistry they will ship, other not. The small size of Edwal print developer they will ship but not the larger sizes, of need to call the store to see if they will ship.

Thanks for the recommendation; I've not tried Bromophen and will check it out. Will order some along with LPD.

Ilford Bromophen is not the same but its in a category that leans to warmer, less bright highlights. Illford PQ has less bright highlights. To get more warmth experiment with mixing used developer with fresh and pulling a print early.

I too wish LPD 1gal powder was available. Experience tells me liquid developers do not have the shelf life as a powder developer. Besides, there is a cost delta with powder developers being less expensive.

Looks like folks in Canada have a different order page than we get in the U.S, when I bring it up says no online orders to call custmer service. My guess is that for some products B&H does nor use paypal for U.S orders.

It is more likely that only some products have been approved for B&H's special "free shipping to Canada if you spend $99" special service, and this is one of them.
B&H's policies respecting what they will ship appear to be related to the special arrangements they have with their shipping contractors. I expect they use a different shipper for the orders to Canada, and that the contract they have with them differs from the contract they have with their US shippers.

I've never run into any product that they ship in the US that they won't ship to Canada. Typically they use UPS for shipping. The only restriction is on special orders which the buyer pays shipping, prepays & is non-cancellable.
I've ordered film, paper (up to 20x24"), LPD liquid, Heico Perma Wash liquid...& a very large Logan matt cutter......all w free shipping.

This is where the aesthetics of printing get so subjective... I print about 80% on warmtone paper, but am after a particular warm look that's eluded me for some time. My warmtone prints haven't looked right for quite a while, and I've been trying different selenium dilutions and temps to try to get it right. Then I looked at some older prints that I liked, and realized that they were developed in LPD. For some reason, I switched to Dektol a while back. I finally made the connection yesterday that my warmtone prints haven't looked right since changing developers. Back to LPD we go! (and going to try Bromophen just to see how that looks).

Understood, but @Paul Howell is referencing the reverse - a product that B&H will ship to Canada, but not to the USA.
In each case though, it appears to be related to the shipping deals that B&H have with their shippers - the ones that make "free shipping" possible.

Since we were talking about liquid Ethol LPD to begin with... it can be shipped in the USA.

For some items I am assuming that B&H will ship but I cannot order online only by telephone. I had thought about the free shipping, it seems the heavier items are restricted from online orders. Now that Photo Wearhouse (Ultrfine) has relocated to New York I will likely buy more from B&H.
