2016 was a boon year, the pinhole festival in Lonsdale Quay, alternative process symposium and several other expos as well as a used camera trade day at the flea market.
Anything like that in the pipes this year?
I'm also looking for instruction in wet plate photography, preferably in group setting to keep the costs down.
Closer to home (this is, after all, in the Vancouver sub-forum) you might want to talk to Nicole at Beau Photo to find out whether they are planning to have Phil Chin do any more sessions on wetplate through them.
Are you a member of the Northwest Alternative Photography (more correctly, the "Pacifica Chapter of the Center for Photographic History and Technology (CPHT)") group? If not, send me a pm ("Start a Conversation") and I can put you in touch with Craig Huber, who sends out the notices.
I have signed up for this wet plate class taking place in Burnaby June 24-25 if anyone would like to join me.
Tintype Portraiture Photography
In the digital age, photographers are looking to the past for alternative methods to give a signature look to their portraits to give a signature look to their portraits. You experience all aspects of wet collodion or tintype image making from coating a 4'x5' metal plate, using a view camera to take a picture as well as developing the final image. Four to five tintype images are created per student. All supplies included Instructor: Phillip Chin
