We have 16mm and 35mm slitting and perforating machines in the UK, and must look for a future for them as the need for archive leader continues to diminish (as more film is already digitised).
We have a dream of creating a small film coating facility, and while we recognise that is extremely complicated, we have both appetite and investment to pursue it.
We do not plan to create the best emulsions, but to create unusual ones that might appeal to creatives, and in very small batches that could be hand-wound by customers into existing (or reusable) film canisters.
We have of course books on film coating, but really need to find someone (ideally in the UK, but not essential) who has years of first hand experience with commercial silver halide film coating who might be available to be a part of this (paid) project. There are many closed film facilities around the world, perhaps there is someone with the passion to explore a new project with us.
We are not looking for free advice, but either a consultant or ideally someone who would be paid to be more hands-on with solving the problem of coating with us, under their own steam and using our budget.
